Anantara Kalutara Resort launches the ‘Tea Guru’
Anantara Kalutara Resort recently hosted its ‘Tea Guru’ tea-tasting event in the Bawa-designed, open air Upper Deck Lounge, celebrating the journey of Sri Lankan tea. Anantara’s ‘Guru’ programmes use local experts and ambassadors to elevate guest experiences by sharing their knowledge during the guest’s stay. Competency and focus are key as with the resort’s Tea Guru, who is trained to explain the specialities and nuances of the teas consumed.
The Tea Guru programme was officially launched in partnership with Jaf Tea, the resort’s long-standing partner for tea. Invitees were able to taste the different types of single origin teas offered by Jaf Tea available across the resort, which also included their Ceylon Regional Teas and signature Te Reval range that includes speciality teas like Marakesh Mint and Rose Oolong. The resort lives by the global Anantara message of providing authentic experiences to its guests through its Guru programmes, which also includes a Wine Guru programme presented by master wine sommelier Sydney Rathnayake. Anantara Kalutara is a peacefully secluded coastal hideaway, connecting travellers to Sri Lanka’s colonial charms and tropical heritage. Designed by Geoffrey Bawa, the resort is just an hour away from the buzz of the capital Colombo and boasts views of the coast, river and lagoon. Guests can explore 5-star luxury accommodation and amenities such as secondary adults-only pool, authentic Italian and Asian speciality by master chefs and water sports on the lagoon. A new Activity Tower will be ready by April where guests can rock climb, abseil and zip line across the lagoon. The resort is set to redefine Kalutara beach with a boardwalk and new beach space for guests, kids’ jungle gym and beach bar this year, staying true to its passion for creating amazing escapes for every age.
