YAAL VIRINDU 2020 AT RAMADA COLOMBO

Ramada will be having the yearly Jaffna food festival “YAAL VIRUNDU” taking place between the 23rd to the 27th of September 2020, 7pm to 11pm priced at Rs 2750 net per person.

The YAAL VIRINDU Jaffna Food festival is a long-established tradition as Ramada Colombo was the first to introduce the authentic Jaffna flavours in Colombo. This annual tradition has been taking place at Ramada Colombo for 18 years in a row.

This year the YAAL VIRUNDU Jaffna food festival is being held in collaboration with Thushara Innasithamby and Danu Innasithamby from “My Sister’s Kitchen”. Thushara & Danu who are originally from Jaffna will be bringing their local flavours to life at our kitchen this September, with Thushara bringing in her grandmother’s traditional recipes passed down to her through generations.

YAAL VIRINDU has been a massive success throughout the years and has brought tremendous exposure and awareness to Jaffna cuisine here in Colombo, especially since its an integral and vital component of Sri Lanka’s culinary identity.

There will be plenty of attention given to the cuisine to bring out the flavours of the North. All spices will be brought directly from Jaffna to our kitchen to create this beautiful authentic buffet spread for you at the Gardenia.

The buffet includes Nelli Crush, Odiyal Kool (prepared in a traditional manner by the pool) served with fried ash plaintains, Mutton bone soup, Suara Varai, Nandu Varuval, Fried fish with mango pickle dip & an extensive variety of vegetarian, seafood and crab curries.

The ambiance displays a traditional Jaffna feel as well as traditional local music and the famous captivating décor that includes the traditional arch entrance.
