British Cosmetics - Empowering the Next Generation of Fashion Designers

British Cosmetics - Empowering the Future of Fashion Design

by Paramie Jayakody

Recently the team at Chokolaate had the pleasure of speaking to a very unique individual: Nirosha Jagodaarachchi, CEO of British Cosmetics. Dressed in blue and white, with her hair falling in waves past her shoulder, she welcomed us with a bright smile onto the premises. Congratulating us on our tenth anniversary of the Chokolaate Mother Daughter Fashion Designer, she expressed her delight in being on board with us this year as the makeup partner.

She shared with us her feelings that this was a very good opportunity for the youth to expand their horizons, and network with other, factors that are important especially in this country, as the Sri Lankan industry is always evolving. As such she feels that there is always room for youth to come in, exploring their capabilities.

She also praised the uniqueness of the mother daughter theme. Being a mom herself, she said, she understood the bond between a mom and daughter, particularly when it came to things like fashion. She looked forward to seeing that bond in a new light at Chokolaate MDFD 2019.

The people at British Cosmetics are looking forward to the challenge of doing backstage makeup for the Past Winners Showcase. Nirosha also mentioned that the winning designers will be getting gifts from British Cosmetics in an acknowledgement of talent and solidarity.

“We like to open up our arms to the young generation” she concluded, “we want them to come over, explore the industry. And we think that Chokolaate has done just that.”
