Local Writer Nimra Savanghan Publishes Children’s Book “The mist in the woods”

“The mist in the woods”–a suspenseful, and fast-paced short story with a much-welcomed local touch, is written by Nimra Savanghan and is currently available on Amazon.

Set in a fictional landscape in Badulla, the short story’s main protagonist is 13-year-old Zoeya, who along with her sister and a few friends, decide to go on a hike right before they start school and a new grade. As young teenagers, Zoeya and her friends are engrossed in the social media world–lamenting when there are no signals at the beginning of the hike.
But in the misty woods, amidst the undesirable COVID conditions altering the entire world–and unfortunately affecting the woods and its inhabitants itself… pure horror and dread lies ahead.

The author, Nimra Savanghan, is one of many female authors in Sri Lanka who has managed to bookmark local talent on amazon and is an ardent fan of all things horror. Her imaginative and out of the box thinking gives her ideas for most of her short stories, short movies, and screenplays. She is a mother to two girls- aged 9 & 7, who are also avid readers!

Including local culture in short stories is a great way to keep the reader enthralled, and for Nimra, incorporating local cities which she explored and visited as a child is an integral part of her writing as she loves to travel and explore. She had also decided to illustrate the story, so that it would attract and interest more young readers.

As for future plans, Nimra says she is looking forward to write a Mystery/Horror book series as well as a dark comedy series for a YouTube channel.
