The Joint Installation ceremony of the Rotaract Clubs of Athugalpura and Kurunegala was held on 5 th
September 2020 ,at the Hotel Blue Sky , Kurunegala.The event was organized parallel to the
Wayamba Fellowship Visit where more than 300 participants attended from all over the island.

This was a proud yet nostalgic moment for us as it marked the end of a successful year where the
newly charterd Rotaract Club of Athugalpura completed 15+ projects under the presidency of Rtr.
Janith Gedarawaththa while Rotaract club of Kurunegala reaching 40+ projects under the presidency
of Rtr.Dhanushka Wickramasinghe. As with every end, this day marked a new beginning as Rtr.
Amanda Embogama and Rtr. Pabasara Bandara took the reigns of their clubs as the new presidents
along with their newly appointed boards of Directors.
The Dignitaries present were invited for the lightning of the oil lamp and were invited to take their
seats at the head table following which the house was called to order by Rtr.Kushan Gedarawatta ,
Sergeant at arms of the Rotaract Club of Kurunegala. The ceremony began with the Rotaract
formalities.

After the introductory video of the club, Rtr. Pavithra Thilakarathne presented the secretary’s report
of the Rotaract club of Kurunegala for the year 2020/21 followed by the address of the president Rtr.
Dhanushka Wikramasinghe where he spoke of their flagship projects Sisu Nena, Plant for Life,Hands
in Life and Take a Stand.
Subsequently the new president of the Rotaract club of Kurunegala ,Rtr. Pabasara Bandara was
introduced and collared.
After the formalities of the Rotaract club of Kurunegala, the Gavel was handed over from their past
president Rtr. Pabasara Bandara to the Immediate Past President of the Rotaract Club of
Athugalpura Rtr. Janith Gedarawatta.
The installation ceremony of the Rotaract club of Athugalpura started off with an introductory video
followed by the reading of the Secretary’s report by Rtr.Navodya Kotawalagedara. Then the charter
president Rtr, Janith Gedarawatta took to the stage for one last address. He spoke, almost tearfully,
of the pride he takes in the club’s growth and the challenges he had to undergo in order to guide a
club that was not only new on the field but also restricted by a pandemic.
Subsequently, we come to the highlight of the day where the new president for the year 2020/21 ,
Rtr.Amanda Emogama was introduced to the gathering and collared as the incoming president of
the Rotaract club of Athugalpura.
President Rtr. Amanda Embogama took the stage to deliver her first address where she spoke of the
brandnew initiatives of Rotaract Club of Athugalpura. Then she concluded her speech by introducing
her executive committee and board of directors.

Up next, the gathering was addressed by the President of the Rotary Club of Athugalpura Rtn. PHF
Parakrama Embogama , President of the Rotary club of Kurunegala Rtn. PHF , the DRR Rtn. Rtr. PP
Kavindra Sigera and DRC Rtn. Amjath Yusuf followed by an entertainment session by Ms .Amelia
Wijesooriya. After presenting the tokens of appreciation , a felicitation on behalf of the District
Steering Committee and the District Council was presented by the Joint Director-Regional
Engagement & TogetherSL Rtr.PP Anjana Senanayake.
The newly appointed Joint Secretary of the Rotaract club of Athugalpura Rtr. Hasitha Wijesiri
delivered the vote of thanks. The Joint Installation Ceremony of The Rotaract clubs of Athugalapura

and Kurunegala was terminated by the President of Rotaract Club of Athugalpura Rtr. Amanda
Embogama, followed by a DJ by our own Rtr. Umesh Rajapaksha.
